The Alternative Certification for Teachers program is designed for people who are seeking a career change to teaching. The program was approved on April 2, 2004 by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC), and offers coursework that meets Texas teacher certification requirements.
The program is currently offering training in areas of certification commonly referred to as "critical need" areas, and is pursuing quality programming, and individual attention. Acceptance to the program is required, as the Richland College ACT program is committed to having knowledgeable and highly-trained teachers.
Once applicants are accepted into the program, they will have support and close communication with Richland College instructors and staff, as well as other cohort members.
