Richland/Texas Woman's University Teacher Education (EC-4) Agreement
The Richland/TWU Articulation agreement makes degrees more convenient. Great news for those interested in getting early childhood-4 (EC-4) teacher certification! Texas Woman's University (TWU) and Richland College have an agreement whereby students can apply up to 67 specific credit hours from the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) to TWU's Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies (EC-4), generic special education, or bilingual education.
Under this agreement, students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Educational Personnel (EP) from Richland College and then take an additional 12 credit hours as specified in the articulation agreement.
Besides Richland, EP classes will be taught at any public school or other DCCCD campus where 20 or more students request a class. General education classes (English, history, government, math, science, etc.) can be taken at any DCCCD campus, including Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, Northlake, and Richland.
After students receive the Associates of Arts or Sciences and EP Applied Associate degrees, they will be ready for transfer to TWU. Currently some required courses from TWU are being offered at the downtown Dallas Universities Center as well as TWU's Denton campus. This plan allows for maximum flexibility, including lowest possible cost and the most geographically convenient location. Students must work closely with an advisor to assure they take the proper courses.
