Career Overview
Medical Assistants are multi-skilled health professionals specifically educated to work in ambulatory settings performing administrative and clinical duties. The practice of medical assisting directly influences the public's health and well-being, and requires mastery of complex body knowledge and specialized skills requiring both formal education and practical experience that serve as standards for entry into the profession.
Length & Cost of Training
Students can expect to complete the program in approximately one year by attending day and evening classes on a full time basis, or within two years on a part time basis or evening classes only. Tuition for this 768-hour program totals $3,045. Books, uniforms, health insurance, are also required.
Accreditation & Certification
The Richland College Medical Assisting Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) on recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants' Endowment (AAME) . Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the CMA exam given by the American Association of Medical Assistants.
