Career Overview
Medication Aides work under the supervision of a nurse in a long-term care facility and distribute medication to facility residents.
Length & Cost of Training
The program consists of 144 hours of classroom/laboratory instruction and 10 hours of supervised internship. Students must finish the 140 hours prior to sitting for the state exam. Courses are offered during the day and evening. The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, Medication Aide Department, awards licensure after successfully completing course objectives and passing the state exam. Students must pay $25 exam fee to DADS.
