The Richland College Dance Theatre Department strives to promote a challenging teaching and learning environment that values diversity and develops artistic excellence, fosters creative and collaborative practices, and encourages personal agency and social responsibility in appreciating dance.
We recognize students' life experiences and encourage all to express themselves through the creation and performance of diverse dance works. Although our focus is primarily in non-traditional contemporary dance styles, we also offer opportunities for growth in traditional musical theatre dance, in association with the drama department. Professional collaborations with guest artists in the community include master classes, workshops, and performances. Our guest list has included companies such as Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Nova Dance Company. In the spring of 2010 we welcome Dallas Dance Company with artistic director Kiyomi Mercandate.
