Developmental Math Program Course Sequence





Developmental Math 0090 (DMAT 0090)

You should enroll in DMAT 0090 if:

  • • Your placement scores indicate this is the appropriate course.
  • • You have trouble understanding the basic operations of numbers.
  • • You have difficulty working with percents or fractions.
  • • You have trouble understanding when to add, subtract, multiply, or divide in working basic application problems.

Course Description: Designed to develop an understanding of basic operations on fractions, decimals, percents, and signed numbers, this course prepares students for a beginning algebra class. A learning lab is available to provide additional assistance. (3 Lec.)

Developmental Math 0097 (DMAT 0097)

You should enroll in DMAT 0097 if:

  • • Your placement scores indicate this is the appropriate course.
  • • You completed DMAT 0090 with a "C" or higher.
  • • You have never completed an algebra course before.
  • • You don't feel confident in recalling your first year algebra concepts.

Course Description: DMAT 0097 is a first algebra course which introduces the topics of operations on real numbers and polynomials, solving linear equations, graphing, simple exponent operations, and solving “word” problems. A learning lab is available to provide additional assistance. (3 Lec.)

Developmental Math 0098 (DMAT 0098)

You should enroll in DMAT 0098 if:

  • • Your placement scores indicate this is the appropriate course.
  • • You have completed DMAT 0097 with a "C" or higher.
  • • You have a sound understanding of first year algebra concepts, but not second year algebra.

Course Description: DMAT 0098 is a second course in algebra that covers the topics of rational expressions and advanced factoring. Additional topics include solving inequalities, quadratic equations, and absolute value equations and inequalities. A learning lab is available to provide additional assistance. (3 Lec.)

Developmental Math 0099 (DMAT 0099)

You should enroll in DMAT 0099 if:

  • • Your placement scores indicate this is the appropriate course and you have completed two years of algebra.
  • • You have completed DMAT 0098 with a "C" or higher

Course Description: DMAT 0099 covers advanced topics in rational expressions, roots, radicals, and exponents. Also covered are quadratic inequalities, relations, functions, advanced graphing, and non-linear systems of equations. A learning lab is available to provide additional assistance. (3 Lec.)
