BOOKS FOR ESOL STUDENTS

The librarians put together a notebook with lists of books for ESOL students. These lists include fiction, non-fiction, biographies, academic skills, and other areas. You may ask for this notebook at the reference desk when you need help picking a book.

In the library catalog, ESOL students can locate books to read using the subject search for "Readers for New Literates." For controversial issues, the Hot Issues Series is recommended. These books may also be located using a title search for "Hot Issues."

DATABASES FOR ESOL STUDENTS

ESOL Students can use these databases to find articles from magazines and journals.

eLibrary
A database of full-text articles from over 900 popular magazines and over 200 newspapers, as well as television and radio transcripts, books, photographs, pictures, and maps.

Student Research Center
Contains articles organized into popular school subject areas. Can be searched be limited to easy reading materials. Easy access to radio / TV transcripts and primary source materials.
