Books - Yes, the library still has BOOKS! Reference books are located on the main level of the library, and the books in the circulating collection for student checkout are located on the lower level.

The library’s book collection consists of titles selected to support the Richland College curriculum. The collection includes reference and circulating titles, electronic books, current popular titles available through a leasing plan, a current issues collection and a career collection, all of which can be located by accessing the online library catalog. Oversized books are at the end of the circulating collection stacks on the lower level of the library. The Dallas County Community College Libraries’ collections are available to be checked out by current staff and students. Students are allowed to check out 10 books for 3 weeks. For staff, a maximum of twenty books may be checked out at one time.

Faculty may submit book and/or periodical titles suggested for purchase to the Collection Development Librarian at any time. Periodical titles recommended for purchase should be submitted by June 1st, and will not begin arriving in the library until January of the next year. Request forms are available in the Adjunct Faculty office, in the library, and online. Students may also request titles, which support the curriculum.

The Collection Development Librarian would like to receive a copy of class syllabi if they include an assignment requiring the use of library materials. This will aid in the development of the library’s collection. The Collection Development Librarian (phone 972 238-6153) is available to meet with faculty to discuss Richland College’s library collection as it pertains to their teaching area.
