attending the library class Research 3: MLA Format-Avoiding Plagiarism
and Documenting Sources. After completing these requirements, you can
pick up a “proof of completion” slip at the Reference Desk
in the library.
PART 1: TUTORIAL
Work through the screen lesson entitled “The MLA Format: Avoiding Plagiarism and Documenting Sources.”
Complete all self-check questions until you get 100%.
Print out the Score Summary you receive at the end of the lesson.
PART 2: WORKS CITED LIST
Create a Works Cited list using NoodleTools in the MLA Advanced style for the five sample sources below. The following videos can assist you in using NoodleTools.

ENTER YOUR NAME AND STUDENT ID# IF YOU ARE NOT USING A
LIBRARY COMPUTER, then either register yourself for a
NoodleTools account or sign in if you have registered previously.
2. READ ALL DIRECTIONS IN NOODLETOOLS CAREFULLY.
HINT 1: You will enter every piece of information listed for each source
HINT 2: NoodleTools DOES NOT automatically correct for capitalization

3. After all five sources have been entered, click the third button above your citations that says Share. Enter your name in the first box. The class name you enter will be MLA Spring 2008. Then click “Share.”
4. A librarian will review your entries and make a comment on each one, either an approval or a note to correct an error. Please note, that review may take longer than 24 hours if you submit your list Friday-Sunday.
5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 of the exercise until all your sources are approved by a librarian. You will only see a comment by each entry. No emails will be sent.
6. Once all entries have been approved, click the Print button to open and print your formatted works cited list. Print out the Works Cited page.
You are done! Bring your Score Summary and Works Cited printouts to the Reference Desk at the Library to receive your “proof of attendance” slip.
