All classes are free and are held in the Library Classroom (L126)
inside the library. Each class is 80 minutes. Students completing
all 3 classes will receive an Information Literacy Certificate.
Research 1:
Introduction to the Richland Library
This class is a required class for the Information Literacy Certificate.
These classes introduce students to the college library and to basic
research strategy.
Plan to attend one of these sessions early in the semester. Seating is limited, and the later classes fill up quickly.

Research 2:
Electronic Research Sources and Strategies
This class is a required class for the Information Literacy Certificate.
Learn to locate information, periodical and newspaper articles in
electronic databases available to Richland students. Learn to use
the library's electronic catalog to search for books. Learn to identify
quality Web sites.

Research 3:
How to Use MLA Format--Avoiding Plagiarism and Documenting Sources
This class is a required class for the Information Literacy Certificate.
Emphasis will be on the latest edition of the MLA Handbook and avoiding
plagiarism.
Plan to attend one of these sessions early in the semester. Seating is limited, and the later classes fill up quickly.
