The home conference opener ended in a loss for the Richland College Thunderducks. They faced the North Lake College Blazers on Jan. 10, where they were defeated 66-74.

North Lake maintained a half-court trap, which put a tight strain on the T-Duck offense.

It was a two possession game with less than one minute remaining. Freshman shooting guard Kendall Smith hit a three-pointer which put the T-Ducks within three points of the Blazers.

As time ran down, the T-Ducks were unable to finish with a win. Sophomore power forward/center Nick Morey led the T-Ducks in points with 28. Sophomore shooting guard Mach Chuol came through with 14 points and Smith finished with 8 points.

The T-Ducks will face the Brookhaven College Bears Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven.
