The Richland College basketball team suffered a loss against the Hill College Rebels on Dec. 9. With 26 seconds remaining, sophomore power forward/center Nick Morey sunk a three pointer which put the T-Ducks within three points of the Rebels. In the last seconds, the T-Ducks didn't come through and lost 54-62.
They went 15 for 29 from the line for 52 percent and committed 24 turnovers. The lack of their perimeter scoring game gave the Rebels the opportunity to run a zone.
The T-Ducks became impatient against the zone and gave up some easy scoring opportunities. The Rebels read the game well and changed their defensive strategy early on.
This loss gives the T-Ducks a 6-7 record. Their non-conference schedule will resume Jan. 3 when they face Paris Junior College. Their Metro Athletic Conference season will begin Jan. 10 against North Lake College.
